Zimbabwe scored 344 runs against Gambia

Zimbabwe has stunned the world in international T20 cricket. On Wednesday, during the T20 World Cup African Qualifier, Zimbabwe scored 344 runs against Gambia. With this explosive performance, Zimbabwe broke seven records. Along with Sikandar Raza’s century, Zimbabwe became the team with the largest margin of victory in a T20 match.

In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier on Wednesday, Zimbabwe scored 344 runs for 4 wickets, then bowled out Gambia for 54 runs. Zimbabwe won the match by 290 runs. Captain Sikandar Raza played a historic century innings. He remained unbeaten with 133 runs from 43 balls, hitting 7 fours and 15 sixes. Raza completed his century in just 33 balls. He was named the player of the match.

  3. Zimbabwe hit 57 boundaries in their innings against Gambia, the most boundaries in a single T20 innings. India previously held this record with 47 boundaries against Bangladesh.
  4. Zimbabwe smashed 27 sixes against Gambia, the most sixes in a T20 innings. Nepal held the previous record with 26 sixes, which Zimbabwe broke.
  5. Zimbabwe reached 200 runs in just 12.5 overs against Gambia, the fastest team to do so in T20 internationals. South Africa previously held this record, reaching 200 in 13.5 overs.
  6. Zimbabwe’s 290-run victory over Gambia is the largest margin of victory in T20 cricket history.
  7. Sikandar Raza scored a century in just 33 balls during this match, becoming the fastest centurion for a full-member team. He broke the record held by Rohit Sharma and David Miller, who each scored a century in 35 balls.
  8. Zimbabwe’s total of 344/4 surpassed Nepal’s 314/3 against Mongolia in 2023, which had been the highest team total in T20 internationals.
