The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction recently concluded, with all 10 franchises assembling their squads.
Ben Stokes, who has always been a hot commodity in the IPL, will not be participating in this season. But why? The English all-rounder himself revealed the reason.
In an interview with Cricinfo, Stokes said, “I didn’t even register for the IPL mega auction. By not registering for the mega auction, I won’t be eligible to play in the IPL for the next three seasons.”
The primary reason behind Stokes’ decision to skip the IPL is his commitment to the national team. According to him, representing his country is more important than playing in franchise leagues.
Stokes explained, “There’s so much cricket coming up… It’s no secret that I’m at the back end of my career. I want to play for as long as I can, and to do that, it’s important to take care of my body and prioritize my well-being.”
