Why Doesn’t Andy Flower Want to Be the Coach of India?

With the T20 World Cup knocking on the door, Rahul Dravid is set to step down as India’s head coach after the tournament. Even though there is an opportunity, he hasn’t expressed any interest in continuing.

Similarly, Andy Flower, the current head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore, also doesn’t want to become India’s head coach, a fact he confirmed himself.

On May 13, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) advertised the position for a new head coach. Following the advertisement, several names surfaced in the Indian media, including Chennai Super Kings’ head coach Stephen Fleming, Delhi Capitals’ Ricky Ponting, and Lucknow Super Giants’ Justin Langer.

However, none of them have shown interest in taking responsibility for the Indian team, which includes players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Bangalore was eliminated from this season’s IPL after losing to Rajasthan Royals. When asked if he was interested in becoming India’s coach, Flower, who is currently in charge of Kohli’s team, responded that he had not applied and would not be applying.

The former Zimbabwean cricket legend stated he is happy being involved with various franchise cricket teams across different countries. He said, “I haven’t applied. I won’t be applying. I’m happy being associated with franchise cricket.”
