Virat Kohli has revealed his plans for retirement. He is well aware that he cannot play cricket his entire life, nor does he wish to. Therefore, Kohli wants to complete all his tasks before retiring from cricket.
He shared these thoughts on a Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) podcast. After quite some time, the former captain of India spoke again about his retirement.
Kohli’s hunger for runs remains the same as ever. He has scored a century in this year’s IPL, bringing his total to eight IPL centuries. With 661 runs in 13 matches, he is in the race for the orange cap.
In an RCB video, Kohli said, “I don’t want to leave any task unfinished. I don’t want to have any regrets. I’m sure there won’t be any. But once my work is done, I’ll leave. After that, you won’t see me for a long time.”
He added, “As long as I’m playing, I want to give my best. This is what drives me constantly.”
After leading India to victory in the Under-19 World Cup in 2008, Kohli was bought by RCB in the IPL auction. Since then, he has been playing for the same team.
Kohli said, “As athletes, we have a limited span. That’s why I don’t look back. I don’t want to end my career thinking about what I could have done on any particular day, because I know I can’t keep playing forever”.
