Recently, India’s batter Virat Kohli expressed his desire to tour Pakistan. This statement from the Indian batting star has pleased Pakistan’s former captain Shahid Afridi. Afridi mentioned that he is inviting Kohli to play either for India or in franchise tournaments.
India last toured Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup. The last bilateral series India played on Pakistani soil was in 2006. Since then, due to political issues , India has not toured Pakistan.
Kohli expressed his desire to tour Pakistan during a video call with Pakistani mountaineer Shehroze Kashif. Kashif shared this conversation on his Instagram.
Addressing Kashif, Kohli said, “Give my regards to your family. I hope we will tour Pakistan soon. Everyone is starting to tour Pakistan now.” Afridi was impressed by Kohli’s statement. He said, “I expected such a statement from Kohli. I welcome Kohli. Whether he comes to play in the PSL or for the Indian team, he is welcome here.”
In 2012, Pakistan last played a bilateral series in India. Last year, Pakistan toured India to play in the ODI World Cup.
