The venue for the T20 World Cup has changed

The venue for the T20 World Cup has changed, and so has the schedule. The T20 World Cup was already moved from Bangladesh, and now the schedule has also been adjusted. Although the start and end dates of the tournament remain the same, many of the pre-determined match times and dates have been changed.

This year, the Women’s T20 World Cup was supposed to take place in Bangladesh. Preparations were underway accordingly. However, due to sudden political instability in the country, the ICC decided to change the venue. Instead of Bangladesh, the matches will now be held in the UAE.

Yesterday, Monday, the ICC announced the new revised schedule in a statement. The group stage remains as per the previous schedule. Bangladesh is in Group B alongside England, West Indies, and Scotland. The entire Women’s T20 World Cup will be held at two venues, Dubai and Sharjah.

If all goes as planned, the World Cup will kick off at 4 PM on October 3 in Sharjah. In the opening match, the Tigresses will face Scotland. The two semifinals will be held on October 17 in Dubai and October 18 in Sharjah. The final will take place at 8 PM on October 20 in Dubai. Before the main event begins, the 10 participating teams will play 10 practice matches between September 28 and October 1. Group A includes Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

According to the new schedule, Bangladesh’s matches are as follows:

  • October 3: Bangladesh vs. Scotland, Sharjah, 4 PM
  • October 5: Bangladesh vs. England, Sharjah, 4 PM
  • October 10: Bangladesh vs. West Indies, Sharjah, 8 PM
  • October 12: Bangladesh vs. South Africa, Dubai, 8 PM
