The United States may may be banned to host the T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup is facing a tough challenge. This time, the most teams will play in the T20 World Cup in history. This event will be held in June with 20 teams in the West Indies and the United States. However, due to administrative irregularities before the World Cup, the United States Cricket Board (USCB) is facing criticism.
In the current situation of US cricket, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has expressed severe dissatisfaction. Similarly, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is also upset.
Cricket players have revealed that the ICC is considering banning the United States Cricket Board, a major member country, for violating its regulations. However, for now, such a step is not being taken due to the presence of tournaments like the World Cup. The main executive of the USCB, Nur Murad, remains unaffected by the current instability. The Olympic Committee believes that USCB board directors are interfering in the board’s daily activities. The latest focus is on Nur Murad. After the board meeting on March 15, the ICC warned the USCB with strict measures to restore discipline to US cricket.
ICC had recommended Nur Murad as the chief executive. However, ICC had asked him to step down while six months remained on the agreement. But the Cricket Council did not adhere to that directive.
In light of such behavior by the United States Cricket Board, a significant portion of ICC’s full member countries is in favor of suspending them. However, they have agreed to wait until the end of the World Cup.
Notably, the upcoming T20 World Cup will begin on June 1 with a match between the United States and Canada. In this 29-day tournament, the United States will host a total of 16 matches.
