Bangladesh will depart for the UAE on Saturday to play an ODI series against Afghanistan. On Friday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the squad for the three-match series, featuring some surprises.
After the recent Test series against South Africa, Najmul Hossain Shanto had expressed his desire to step down from captaincy. However, the BCB has retained him as the captain in the 15-member squad.
Nasum Ahmed, who last played in the World Cup in India, has been recalled to the ODI team. He returns to international cricket nearly a year later and will be joined by Nahid Rana, who has received his first call-up to the squad for the shorter format.

The series’ first ODI is scheduled for November 6, followed by the second on November 9. After a one-day break, the third and final ODI will take place. All matches will be held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE.
