Tamim’s 8,000 Runs in Recognized T20s

Bangladeshi left-handed batter Tamim Iqbal has become the first Bangladeshi cricketer to reach the milestone of 8,000 runs in recognized T20 cricket.

Tamim achieved this milestone during today’s BPL match against Rangpur Riders.

Entering the game at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Tamim started with 7,991 runs in 271 T20 matches. He needed 9 runs to join the 8,000-run club.

Tamim crossed this milestone by hitting a four off the last ball of the fifth over in Barishal’s innings, making him the 34th batter in the world to score 8,000 runs in T20 cricket. In the match, he scored 40 runs off 34 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes.

In his T20 career of 272 matches and 271 innings, Tamim has scored 8,031 runs, including 4 centuries and 52 half-centuries. In the BPL alone, he has scored 3,583 runs in 109 matches and 108 innings, with 2 centuries and 29 half-centuries.

The second-highest run-scorer for Bangladesh in T20s is all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, with 7,438 runs in 444 matches and 408 innings, including 32 half-centuries.

The world record for most runs in T20 cricket belongs to West Indies’ Chris Gayle, who has scored 14,562 runs in 463 matches and 455 innings, with 22 centuries and 88 half-centuries.

Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik is in second place, having scored 13,492 runs in 551 matches and 510 innings, with 83 half-centuries.

In third place is Gayle’s compatriot Kieron Pollard, who has 13,355 runs in 687 matches and 611 innings.
