Sri Lanka plans specifically for Mustafizur

Sri Lanka is devising special plans for Mustafizur Rahman. In the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, Mustafizur could be one of Bangladesh’s key weapons. Sri Lanka is taking this matter seriously and has already formulated specific strategies to counter him.

Mustafizur last played in the first match of the series against the United Arab Emirates, where he used his experience to deliver a valuable win for the team. However, since then, due to the IPL and injuries, he has been out of the national squad.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday (July 1), ahead of the first ODI of the series, Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka said,
“Firstly, Mustafiz is a great bowler. He has proven himself in the past and taken many wickets for Bangladesh. We have a clear plan for him because we know he can be dangerous.”

For the past few years, a Bangladesh-Sri Lanka clash has meant extra excitement. The heat of the game often spreads to celebrations and verbal exchanges. On this, Asalanka said,
“We are good friends. It’s like a rivalry only within the game. That’s what everyone expects — this heat, this battle, these matches are what fans look forward to. At the end of the day, we’re good friends.”

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will play the first match of the series on Wednesday (July 2) at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. When asked about his expectations for the pitch, Asalanka said,
“I think Premadasa is usually spin-friendly. I want to play on a good track here, not a spin-friendly one. I hope the pitch will be good for batters. But I don’t know yet what it will be like, I’m waiting to see tomorrow.”
