India’s two star cricketers, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, have retired from Test and T20 cricket. However, they continue to play in ODIs. Both of these legendary batters want to represent India in the 2027 World Cup.
By the time the 2027 World Cup arrives, Rohit will be 40 years old, and Kohli will be 38. As a result, there had been growing discussions about planning for the World Cup without them. But both players participated in the recently concluded Australia series.
Rohit and Kohli failed in the first two ODIs. Rohit returned to form in the second match, while Kohli bagged two consecutive ducks. However, in the third ODI, both stars showcased their true class — Rohit remained unbeaten on 121, and Kohli scored an unbeaten 74, guiding India to a nine-wicket victory.
On the day when both batters returned to form, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif made an explosive remark about the Indian selectors. According to him, the selectors want Rohit and Kohli to fail.
On his YouTube channel, Kaif said,
“They (Rohit and Kohli) know that people are waiting for their failures — the selectors, some sections of the media. But look at their determination now. Calm from the outside, but fire in their eyes. They won’t give anyone the chance to push them out of the national team.”
