In 2006, Zimbabwean all-rounder Sean Williams announced his retirement from international T20 cricket against Bangladesh in Khulna. At the end of an 18-year career, he declared retirement from T20 cricket in Bangladesh.
Though retiring from T20 cricket, the 37-year-old Williams will continue to play Test and One Day Internationals. Today, at the end of the last match of the 5-match T20 series against Bangladesh, this all-rounder announced his retirement in front of the media in the dressing room of the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.
Even though he lost the first match of his career, Williams ended on a high note by winning the last one. However, there wasn’t any notable personal performance to mention.
Zimbabwe didn’t require him to bat as they won by eight wickets. He bowled 1 over conceding 12 runs. In that 2006 match, he scored 38 runs with the bat and took 1 wicket with the ball.
Williams played 81 T20 matches in his career, scoring 1069 runs in 80 innings with a strike rate of 126.38. He also took 11 wickets with the ball, maintaining an economy rate of below seven in spin bowling.
