In the ongoing Test series against India, Joe Root is having a great time with the bat. Due to this, English batters have returned to the top three in the Test rankings. Similarly, India’s successful batsmen, Jaiswal and Jurel , have achieved significant success in the Test rankings.
In the ICC Test rankings, Root has moved up to the top three among batters. On the other hand, Jaiswal, who played a crucial role in the fourth match of the series in Ranchi, is going at the top ten positions. India is leading 3-1 in the series after winning by 5 wickets in the previous match.
Root, the former number one in the rankings, played an undefeated innings of 122 runs in the first innings of the fourth match of the series, propelling him to the top three in the rankings. Apart from that, he is three steps ahead in fourth place in the Test all-rounders’ rankings. At the beginning of the series, Jaiswal was at the 69th position, but after the fourth match, he has risen to the 12th position. He has advanced three places by scoring 73 and 37 runs in the two innings of that match. Similarly, Jurel scored 90 and 39 runs in the two innings. He has climbed 31 places in the rankings. Currently, this young wicketkeeper-batsman is at the 69th position.
On the other hand, England’s Jack Crawley scored 42 and 60 runs in the two innings. He has reclaimed the top spot as in the first match. Additionally, a few spinners have also made advancements in their rankings. India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took 5 wickets in the second innings, bringing him to the top of the bowlers’ rankings with a rating of 21 points alongside Satyajit Jasprit Bumrah. However, Bumrah took a break in the fourth match.
India’s wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav has also moved up in the rankings. He is 10 places ahead, currently at the 32nd position. Additionally, England’s young spinner, Shoaib Bashir, has climbed 38 places (to the 80th position) in the rankings.
