Rohit and Kohli’s bats smiled – India avoided a whitewash

After losing the first two matches, India had already lost the series. Rohit Sharma got some runs in the second match, but Virat Kohli was dismissed for ducks in both games. However, in the third and final match, both Indian stars found their rhythm. Rohit scored his 32nd ODI century, leading India to a massive 9-wicket victory over Australia and avoiding a whitewash.

On Saturday (October 25), Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss in Sydney and chose to bat first. Openers Travis Head and Marsh gave Australia a solid start, putting on a 61-run partnership.
But after that, Indian bowlers struck back hard. The Aussies kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 236 runs in 46.4 overs. Alex Carey top-scored with 56 off 58 balls, while Head made 41 and Matthew Short added 30. For India, Harshit Rana took 4 wickets.

Chasing a target of 237, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave the team a flying start with aggressive batting, adding 69 runs for the first wicket.
Gill fell for 24 off 26 balls, dismissed by Josh Hazlewood. Kohli then joined Rohit at the crease, and the duo dominated the Australian bowlers. Kohli played fluently to complete his 74th career fifty off 56 balls, while Rohit reached his century in 105 balls with brilliant stroke play.

Together, they guided India to victory with 69 balls to spare. Rohit remained unbeaten on 121 off 125 balls, and Kohli on 74 off 81 balls.
