Rishad’s Wilderness in Pakistan – A Nightmare for Batters

Rishad’s free-spirited dominance is constantly casting a spell of amazement. Surely now, the eyes of Bangladesh’s cricket authorities will open— or have they fallen asleep too early? Six wickets in two matches—Rishad Hossain is soaring. It’s as if he’s answering all the neglect he faced at home with performances abroad. Every moment, he leaves a mark of his improvement.

In a region where leg-spinners hardly get any recognition, Rishad is proudly asserting his presence. He wants to reign on the global stage. Even today in Bangladesh’s domestic cricket, leg-spinners are often seen warming the benches. Rishad too has gone through countless such days. Even in the local franchise tournaments, he had to wait patiently for his opportunities. Sometimes he made the most of them under the sudden pressure of expectations, and at times he failed.

But each time, he learned. He used the days of neglect as fuel to shape himself. And now, Rishad is reaping the rewards. Beyond the borders of his homeland, in a foreign league, he’s showcasing his brilliance. In his debut match, he showed sharp cricketing intelligence. And the trend continued in his second match against Karachi Kings.

In his very first over of the match, Rishad Hossain took two wickets. He spoiled Shan Masood’s reverse sweep plan and picked up his wicket. Credit also goes to Lahore Qalandars’ wicketkeeper Sam Billings for that dismissal.

In his first two overs, the Bangladeshi leg-spinner produced a masterclass in economical bowling, putting the opposing batters under immense pressure. In his second over, he conceded just three runs and took another wicket. At the end of two overs, Rishad had claimed three wickets for just four runs. By then, the match had already swung firmly in favor of Lahore Qalandars.

Later, he lost a bit of rhythm and conceded 22 more runs. He ended the day with three wickets for 26 runs. After his debut match, Lahore Qalandars had stated that Rishad was enriching their bowling attack. And he repaid that trust in his very next game.
