Rain Threat Looms Over India-Bangladesh Test

The second Test between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to begin today, Friday. Both teams are eager for a win. India leads the series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Chennai. Bangladesh is determined to level the series.

So far, there are no issues except for one major concern: rain. Parts of India are still experiencing rainfall. Recently, due to rain in Uttar Pradesh, the New Zealand vs. Afghanistan match was completely washed out, forcing the game to be canceled, with both teams sharing the points.

The situation has been further complicated by the weather forecast. According to the AccuWeather app, thunderstorms and rain are expected during the match. There are also predictions of storms and cloudy skies.

On Sunday, the third day of the match, heavy rainfall is forecast in the morning. This app is usually accurate in its predictions. If play is disrupted for all three days, the match could potentially be canceled, resulting in both India and Bangladesh sharing the points without playing.

In addition to the weather concerns, the condition of Green Park Stadium has also worried organizers. The Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) has raised concerns about the balcony in the C stand of the gallery. Ankit Chatterjee, CEO of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, told The Indian Express, “We have been instructed to sell only 1,700 tickets for the C stand, which has a capacity of 4,800. However, PWD has pointed out some structural issues with that stand, so we won’t be selling all the tickets. Repairs will be carried out there.”

Engineers from the Public Works Department have already inspected the stand for six hours and after careful consideration, advised selling fewer tickets, according to officials from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association.
