It seems that visa problems are not leaving England’s cricketer Rahane Ahmed. This time, he was detained at Rajkot Airport in India. Earlier, there was a discussion about the visa issue of Shoaib Bashir, a Pakistani-born spinner for England, during the second and third tests of the five-match Test series. During this break, the England Test team had gone to Abu Dhabi. On their way back, Rahane was detained at the Hiraser Airport in Rajkot. The reason stated was his Indian visa being a ‘single entry’ one.
After a long wait, Rahane has finally been allowed to go to the hotel as a temporary solution. England’s team management is making efforts to quickly resolve Rahane’s visa issue.
There has been some speculation as to why Rahane’s visa is single entry. Many believe it is due to an oversight by England’s team management. A BCCI official told Hindustan Times, “England has been given advice to start the visa process again, which will be completed within the next two days. The cricketer has been granted entry into India, and he will also be seen in practice on Tuesday.”
The third Test between India and England will start on February 15. Both teams have won one match each in the first two matches, hence the series is currently level. After the Rajkot Test, the last two matches of the series will be held in Ranchi and Dharamshala.
