Protests banned in Gwalior ahead of the Bangladesh-India match. Bangladesh and India will begin a three-match T20 series in Gwalior on October 6. However, before the first match of the series, the Hindu Mahasabha and several other organizations have announced protest rallies and even demanded the cancellation of the match.
But the local District Magistrate and Collector Ruchika Chauhan has imposed a ban on protest rallies and inflammatory campaigns on social media. The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) and local administration are placing extra emphasis on security.
Following the fall of the Awami League government in Bangladesh in August, the groups demanded the cancellation of Sunday’s match due to attacks and violence against Hindus in Bangladesh.
According to a report from India’s news agency PTI, a ban has been imposed in Gwalior due to protests surrounding the Bangladesh-India match on October 6. Under Section 163 of the Indian Citizens Protection Code (BNSS), protests and provocative activities on social media are banned in Gwalior district until October 7. Nearly 1,600 police officers have been deployed to control the situation.
No videos, pictures, audio, banners, posters, or flags that disrupt the match or incite religious hatred can be carried or displayed. Additionally, carrying fireworks, sharp weapons, or flammable materials is prohibited, and gatherings of more than five people are banned. Carrying kerosene, petrol, or acid within 200 meters of any structure is also prohibited.
