Typically busy addressing international politics and guests on his YouTube channel, Piers was visibly frustrated with the England Cricket team yesterday. After their lousy defeat against South Africa in Mumbai, it seems normal for any English fan to be upset. For context, South Africa defeated England by a massive margin of 229 runs, leaving them at the bottom of the CWC Point Table with Afghanistan.

Piers Morgan’s take on the England Team

Piers wrote, “I knew England would get absolutely battered by South Africa today.. just assumed it would be with an egg shaped ball not a small round one. “

About two hours later, he added, “England’s cricketers have given us many wonderfully thrilling performances in all formats over the past few years, but this World Cup defence has been an inexplicably embarrassing shambles. So disappointing.”

In both statements, Piers talked about the England team’s performance in the World Cup. So far, they have lost against New Zealand, South Africa, and, surprisingly, Afghanistan. England only managed to win against Bangladesh. The English Squad is currently occupying the 9th spot on the point table, and their dream to reach the Semifinals is hanging by a thread.

Yesterday’s loss against South Africa was particularly devasting for the English fans. Aside from poor bowling, the total collapse of upper and middle-order batters left England with a record-breaking defeat. South Africa set a target of 400 runs, while in response, England managed to score 170 for 10 wickets. Such a poor display of cricket by the current World Champions undoubtedly hurt the expectations of English fans worldwide.
