Phil Simmons has been appointed as the interim coach of the Tigers

Phil Simmons has been appointed as the interim coach of the Tigers. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has dismissed head coach Chandika Hathurusingha over allegations of breaching the code of conduct. In his absence, the West Indian Phil Simmons has been named the interim coach.

BCB President Faruk Ahmed shared the news during a press conference on Tuesday (October 15). He mentioned that Hathurusingha was issued a show-cause notice before being dismissed over certain matters.

Faruk Ahmed also announced Phil Simmons as the new coach. The BCB has signed a contract with the Caribbean coach until the upcoming Champions Trophy for now.

Simmons, a former all-rounder, is a well-known figure in the cricket world as a coach. He has served as the coach of the West Indies twice, guiding them to victory in the 2016 T20 World Cup. He has also been the head coach of Zimbabwe and Ireland, and a batting coach for Afghanistan.

Additionally, Simmons has worked as a consultant and specialist coach for various teams over the years, and held key roles in franchise leagues as head coach. Now, his new challenge is with Bangladesh.
