Pakistan remains optimistic that all matches of the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan

PCB is hopeful that all matches of the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan

In 2006, the Indian cricket team played in Pakistani soil. However, this long hiatus could end in 2025 with the Champions Trophy scheduled to be held in Pakistan. Pakistan dreams of hosting the Champions Trophy in 2025 as the likely venues for India’s matches have been proposed to be in Pakistan by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Recently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent a proposal to the ICC for the schedule of the 2025 Champions Trophy. It mentioned that all matches will be held in Pakistan, starting from February to March. Eight countries will participate in this one-day format tournament.

In a press conference, PCB Chairman Mohsin Nakvi assured that the board has submitted the schedule to the ICC for the 2025 Champions Trophy. He mentioned that all matches will be held in Pakistan.

Nakvi stated, “We want all matches of the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan. We have already submitted the schedule to the ICC. The ICC security team has come to Pakistan. They are pleased with our arrangements.”

Recently, the ICC security team has inspected stadiums and overall conditions in Pakistan. They visited Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, and Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium. ICC has expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s security arrangements and other facilities.

However, whether the Indian cricket team will come to Pakistan is still uncertain. It depends on the Indian government. To travel to Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) needs permission from the Indian government. Considering the current situation, the probability of that happening is very low.

According to BCCI sources, they have proposed a hybrid model, suggesting that some matches could be organized outside Pakistan as well. If the proposal from Pakistan is not accepted, there is also a possibility of a change in venue.

Despite all obstacles, Pakistan remains optimistic that all matches of the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan. Proper planning and preparation are necessary for hosting such a significant event. Pakistan is gearing up for it. Now, the question remains whether Pakistan can once again host the battles in green and blue on its soil.
