In Bangladesh, change is in the air. Every sector in the country is experiencing shifts. Some are resigning, while others are being dismissed. As the old guard steps aside, new faces are taking their place.
Now, change has reached Bangladeshi cricket as well. A short while ago, Nazmul Hassan Papon resigned as the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). He held this position for 12 long years. Stepping into his place as President is Faruque Ahmed.
In a meeting of this new committee, Nazmul Abedin Fahim, a well-known figure in Bangladeshi cricket, was announced as a BCB director. For many years, this gentleman has been closely involved with Bangladeshi cricket. He is particularly recognized as the mentor of stars like Tamim and Shakib.
He has also contributed significantly to the rise of the Bangladesh women’s cricket team. With unanimous support, this respected figure in the country’s cricket has been appointed as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Nazmul Abedin Fahim has always raised questions where there was injustice, speaking out. He was quite vocal in the recent anti-discrimination movements led by students. It remains to be seen what changes this experienced individual will bring to BCB.
In this new Bangladesh, cricket fans hope that the sport will also be free of any discrimination. Now, the question is whether the new leadership will bring success to the country’s cricket.
