In the upcoming season of the IPL, Bangladesh’s only representative is Mustafizur Rahman. Mustafiz is the center of attention for supporters in the IPL due to his outstanding performances. This time, the current champions Chennai Super Kings will play with Fizz. However, before the season begins, there is some concern in Chennai. The team’s key member, ‘Baby Malinger’ famous Mathisha Pathirana, has suffered an injury during their visit to Bangladesh. Pathirana was impressive for Chennai last season, taking 19 wickets in 12 matches, especially with his death overs bowling. However, due to a hamstring injury, Sri Lanka Cricket has stated that Pathirana will have to stay out of the field for four to five weeks. As a result, Chennai Super Kings will not have Pathirana available for the start of the IPL, which begins on March 22.
A senior official from Chennai informed Indian media Times of India, “We need to discuss with our SL to know when he can play. He is a crucial bowler for us. However, such things happen.”
With the T20 World Cup looming, Sri Lanka will be cautious with Pathirana. Chennai also has alternatives. Bangladesh’s cutter master Mustafizur Rahman is now in Chennai’s lineup. Additionally, Mustafizur’s slower cutter might be effective on Chennai’s slow pitches. With Pathirana not available at the start, Mustafizur’s chances in the XI have increased. Mustafizur might have to take on significant responsibilities.
Regarding Mustafiz, the Chennai Super Kings official stated, “Fizz will join the camp on March 20. A few days before our match with Royal Challengers Bangalore. He knows what to do here, and we will see in what condition he is.”
The IPL opener on March 22 will feature a face-off between Mustafizur’s Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
