Mehidy Miraz Following Shakib’s Path in All-Rounder Rankings
Although many names have surfaced as potential replacements for Shakib Al Hasan, no one has made as strong a case as Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Over time, he has prepared himself, and now his efforts are being recognized.
In the all-rounder rankings for Test cricket, Mehidy Hasan Miraz has made a significant leap, reaching his career-best position. He has moved up two spots and is now in the top five with 272 rating points.
Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan, who once dominated the top spot in the rankings, currently sits in third place. If Shakib indeed played his last Test in Kanpur, he would retire with 285 rating points, leaving the rankings from the third position.
Although Miraz’s progress is notable, his performance in the India series wasn’t stellar. Especially with the bat, he struggled to contribute significantly. In the first Test in Chennai, he scored just 35 runs in both innings combined, and in Kanpur, the right-handed batter managed only 29 runs.
Despite his batting struggles, Miraz performed well with the ball. The right-arm off-spinner claimed 3 wickets across two innings in the first Test, and in Kanpur, he took 6 wickets. It is primarily his bowling performance that has propelled him forward in the all-rounder rankings.
Miraz has also improved in the bowling rankings, moving up four spots to 18th position. However, in the batting rankings, Miraz is positioned at 70th.
Among other Bangladeshi batters, Mushfiqur Rahim has slipped one spot to 24th. Liton Das, who couldn’t perform well against India, has dropped seven places to 27th. On the other hand, Mominul Haque has moved up 16 places to 42nd.
