Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz has climbed to the second position in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings.
India’s Ravichandran Ashwin, who couldn’t perform well with bat and ball in the recently concluded Adelaide Test against Australia, dropped one place to third. Taking advantage, Miraz moved up to second place with 284 rating points, narrowly surpassing Ashwin, who has 283 points.
Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is in fourth place with 263 points, while India’s Ravindra Jadeja remains at the top with 415 points.
Meanwhile, in the ICC weekly update, England’s Harry Brook has climbed to the top of the Test batter rankings for the first time, displacing compatriot Joe Root. The gap between Brook and Root is just one point—Brook has 898 rating points, while Root has 897.
Brook, who was ranked second last week, played a Test against New Zealand in Wellington, where Root was at the top. In that Test, Brook scored 123 and 55 in his two innings, while Root scored 3 and 106. Scoring more runs than Root helped Brook claim the top spot.
Australia’s Travis Head and South Africa’s Temba Bavuma have also improved in the batter rankings. Head, who scored 140 in the first innings in Adelaide, moved up six places to fifth. Bavuma advanced three spots to seventh after scoring 78 and 66 in two innings in the Test against Sri Lanka in Gqeberha.
Among Bangladeshi batters, Zakir Ali showed notable progress. Scoring 91 runs in the second innings of the Kingston Test played a significant role in Bangladesh’s victory. This performance pushed him up by 21 places to rank 63rd.
In the Test bowlers’ rankings, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah continues to hold the top spot.
