In the ongoing IPL, Bangladesh’s cricketer playing for Chennai Super Kings is Mustafizur Rahman. He has taken 10 wickets in 5 matches for Chennai. He’s leading the wicket-takers’ race for the team.
Additionally, another pacer, Shariful Islam, could have had the opportunity to play in the IPL if he had received a release from the BCB. Since last year, Shariful has been trying his luck in cricket. He has proved himself in the national team, BPL, and DPL. His success caught the attention of the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. There was communication with the Bangladesh pacer from Lokesh Rahul’s team.
However, Shariful couldn’t make it. He explained in an interview with a private TV channel that he didn’t hear back from the BCB. He said, “Lucknow messaged me from Lucknow. They wanted me. But the time from the BCB was very short, so they didn’t respond later.
If the BCB had given the full NOC, it might have happened. Since we have a series against Zimbabwe, the BCB has probably thought about it that way.” Between the Sri Lanka series and the Zimbabwe series, BCB was willing to release Shariful for a month, but the whole season was requested by the team. That’s why this left-arm pacer didn’t play in the IPL.
However, this left-arm pacer is not losing hope of playing in the IPL in the future. Shariful, with great enthusiasm, said, “I have the desire. If I stay healthy and continue like this, then, InshaAllah, I will play in the IPL one day. If there is no game at that time.”
