Liton Kumar Das has been fined for arguing with the umpire. He received a penalty for misconduct during the match against Rangpur Riders in the first qualifier of the BPL.
During the match at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Liton was seen arguing with the on-field umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid during the first strategic time-out of Rangpur’s batting innings.
At one point, Sharfuddoula was trying to calm Liton down. Liton seemed quite agitated at that time and gestured with his fingers while saying something. To restrain him, the umpire put his hand on Liton’s shoulder. However, Liton quickly removed the hand.
At that time, Cumilla’s head coach Mohammad Salauddin was also on the field, trying to calm Liton down, but he was unsuccessful. Liton then tried to approach the umpire, but was stopped by Cumilla’s captain, who pulled him away towards the umpire.
Following complaints from the on-field umpires Sharfuddoula and Dyton Butler, TV umpire Tanvir Ahmed, and fourth umpire Ali Arman, match referee Selim Shahed imposed the penalty on Liton without the need for a formal hearing, as Liton accepted the charge.
