Lanka Premier League to Begin from November 27

The 2025 edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) is set to begin on November 27. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officially confirmed the news in a statement on Thursday. The month-long T20 tournament will conclude on December 23.

As in previous years, all matches will be held across three venues — Colombo, Pallekele, and Dambulla. LPL Tournament Director Samantha Dodanwela stated that the main objective of organizing the event at this time is to ensure proper preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

He said, “By hosting the LPL during this period, we aim to create a competitive environment for the players ahead of the World Cup. The schedule has also been set to align with the timing of the World Cup.”

Since its inception in 2020, the LPL has quickly become a key part of Sri Lanka’s domestic cricket. The franchise-based T20 league features the country’s top players and regularly sees the participation of international stars.
