Yesterday, at the HPCA stadium of Dharamshala, India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets. This match was highly anticipated due to both teams’ unbeaten streak on the CWC 2023. Indian bowling lineup completely controlled the flow of runs from the Kiwi side. Mohammed Shami’s pace and agility forced the Kiwi batters to play as safe as possible. New Zealand collected 273 runs in 50 Overs, not a safe total against India on their home condition.
Mohammed Shami and Virat Kohli’s respective performances made the victory look plain for India. Shami took 5 wickets for 54 runs in 10 Overs & Kohli scored 96 runs out of 105 balls. Kiwi bowlers and batters were both outplayed by their Indian counterparts. Shami also received the Player of the Match title for his match-winning five-wicket haul.
Shami’s remarkable performance in the first half of the match caught Irfan Pathan’s attention. The all-around celebrity Pathan made his remark regarding Shami on X; he said, “Mohammed shami is like Ferrari. Whenever you take it o ut of garage it will give u same speed thrill and joy to ride every time.”

Mohammed Shami’s five-wicket haul proved his bowling can have devastating effects against any team, anywhere. Irfaan’s “Ferrari” comparison truly connects to Shami’s expertise, as he is now the only Indian bowler to register two five-wicket hauls in CWC history. India will play their next match against England on the 29th of October.
