Ireland beat Afghanistan to register historic first Test win seven years after being granted status!

Ireland has been playing Test cricket for almost seven years. In these seven years, the Irish have played seven Tests. However, they hadn’t tasted victory in any of them until now. But finally, the Irish cricket team, dressed in white, has achieved victory in cricket by defeating Afghanistan for the first time in their eighth match.

On Friday (March 01), at the neutral venue of Abu Dhabi’s Tolerance Oval, Ireland defeated Afghanistan by 6 wickets in the only Test against Afghanistan. With Mark Adair’s outstanding bowling, they bowled out Afghanistan for 155 runs in the first innings. In reply, Ireland scored 263 runs, taking a lead of 108 runs. In the second innings, Afghanistan was all out for 218 runs. As a result, Ireland had a target of 111 runs for victory.

Facing the target of 111 runs, Ireland had a shaky start. Within the team’s 39 runs, they lost 4 wickets. However, Andy Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker’s batting kept Ireland on the path to victory.

These two batters did not lose any more wickets and achieved victory by 6 wickets. Balbirnie remained unbeaten with 58 runs off 96 balls, while Tucker remained not out with 27 runs off 57 balls.
