The board is considering whether to send a team to Pakistan for security reasons! Before the Champions Trophy, Bangladesh is scheduled to play two Tests in Pakistan this month. The two Tests are scheduled from July 21 in Rawalpindi and from July 30 in Karachi. The Bangladesh Cricket Board is concerned about security there.
Jalal Yunus, Chairman of Cricket Operations of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, told the media, “We are concerned about Pakistan’s security. The Pakistan board has assured us that there will be no security issues.
Nevertheless, we have requested the government to send a security advisor to the country before the series. He will assess the security and inform us.”
However, no Bangladeshi cricketer has objected to playing in Pakistan. Jalal said, “The cricketers have no issues. We played in Pakistan during the Asia Cup, and many other countries have played there as well. However, the safety of our cricketers is our top priority, so we don’t want to take any risks.”
The Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held in Pakistan next year. The Indian Cricket Board has stated that the decision to send a team to that country will be made by the government.
Additionally, the Indian board has requested the ICC to hold the competition in a neutral country. However, the Pakistan board remains adamant. Due to India’s objections, they had to co-host the Asia Cup. They are determined to host the Champions Trophy in their own country.
