Innings Highlight: India

Upon winning the toss, Rohit’s decision to bat first sounded strategic. His strategy soon unfolded as Rohit & Gill heavily punished Boult & Southee in the first Powerplay. Upon Rohit’s dismissal, Virat Kohli entered the field to create history by overtaking Sachin Tendulakr’s record of most ODI centuries. The legendary batter now has 50 ODI centuries to show off. Kohli & Iyer’s unbreakable partnership of 163 runs pretty much set India to reach the 400 mark today. KL Rahul & Iyer (105) finished India’s innings at 397 runs in 50 Overs.

Innings Highlight: New Zealand

With the burden of chasing such a target, the auspicious Kiwi opener Ravindra & his partner fell early within a team total of 39 runs. Skipper Williamson & Mitchell’s 181 runs partnership lightened up hopes for the Kiwis, but Mohammad Shami’s double dismissal in the 33rd Over slowed down the Kiwi advance. After recovering from Shami’s attack, the weight became too heavy for the remaining Kiwi batters. New Zealand collected 327 runs in 48.5 overs to exit their World Cup journey.

Player of the Match

Mohammaed Shami’s 7-57 in 9.5 Overs earned him the Player of the Match title. On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Kohli on his X account. He stated, “I couldn’t be happier that an Indian broke my record. And to do it on the biggest stage – in the World Cup Semi-final – and at my home ground is the icing on the cake.”

India will face the winner of the Australia Vs South Africa match on November 19th. Even at this stage of the tournament, the Indian batting & bowling lineup is looking more dangerous than ever. Mohammad Shami’s Five-wicket haul proves that he is maintaining his rhythm throughout the tournament. On the other hand, openers Rohit & Gill are consistently giving India huge headstarts.
