India-Bangladesh Cricket Series

After claiming victory in the ICC Women’s Championship, Bangladesh has seen a significant increase in the number of One Day International (ODI) matches played. Now, there is anticipation for a new experience in Twenty20 (T20) matches as well. They will play their first-ever five-match T20 series. India will be the opposition against Bangladesh.

The schedule for the series against Australia in T20 matches was announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday (April 3), the day before the conclusion of the T20 series against Australia. All five matches of the series will be held in Sylhet. Nearly a decade later, matches will be played under lights in Sylhet. Three of the five matches in the series will be day-night fixtures.

India will arrive in Bangladesh on April 23. The first T20 will be held on April 28 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The next match at the same venue will be on April 30. The next two matches will be held at the outer ground of the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on May 2 and May 6 respectively. The final match will return to the main ground on May 9. All three matches at the main ground will be day-night affairs. The games will start at 6:30 PM, while the other two matches will begin at 2 PM.

This series will be Bangladesh’s final series before heading to the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka in July. The series is being organized outside the preparation schedule for the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup.

In July last year, India played three ODIs and T20 matches in Bangladesh. Despite losing two matches in the T20 series, they won the final one. The  ODI series ended in a draw. Intense excitement prevails both on and off the field due to various controversies. A new chapter of this rivalry has begun nearly a year before.

Primarily, this series is being organized as preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup. In October, Bangladesh will host the ninth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup. Ten teams will participate in it.

Bangladesh is not performing well against Australia in the ongoing series. After a whitewash in the ODI series, they have also lost the first two matches in the T20 series. The final match of the series is on Thursday.
