After playing three consecutive Tests, pacer Jasprit Bumrah is getting a rest. He is not included in the squad for the fourth Test in Ranchi, India. The result of the fourth Test will depend on the outcome of the match in Dharamsala, whether Bumrah will play in the fifth Test or not. The fourth Test between India and England will start in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, from February 23rd. Rohit Sharma and the rest of the team will fly to Ranchi on Tuesday, but Bumrah will not be accompanying them. He will travel to Ahmedabad, a 4-hour road journey.
Workload management policy is behind the decision to give Bumrah a rest. After losing the first Test in Hyderabad, the right-arm pacer returned with 9 wickets in the following Test in Visakhapatnam, helping the team make a comeback in the series. With an average of 13.54 in the ongoing series, Bumrah is currently the leading wicket-taker.
In Visakhapatnam, Mohammad Siraj was rested as part of the workload management.
Although Bumrah has been given a rest, it is not certain who will replace him. However, pacer Mohammed Shami might return to the squad after being released to play for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy.
