In the central contract, ’21’ cricketers include Mahmudullah Riyad.

Riad knows how to turn things around from scratch, like a phoenix rising from the ashes – Mahmudullah Riyad sets an exemplary standard. Despite being dropped from the national team time and again, Riyad has returned to the limelight with his incredible performances. Hence, he has been included in the BCB’s central contract for 2024.

At the beginning of 2023, Riyad found himself struggling for a spot in the national team. He was dropped even from the T20 squad and lost his place from the central contract as well as the ODI squad for 2023.

However, theatrically, he finds his way back into the team before the World Cup, reintroducing himself to his nation. There was no hurry to convey a unified message from the selectors, team management, or BCB, except for publishing the new list of central contracts, leading to repeated inquiries about Riyad’s inclusion.

The answer to that question is reassuring. Both BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon and Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Jalal Yunus have confirmed that Riyad is in the central contract.

Papon said, “The contract has been given to 21 cricketers.”

At this point, Jalal Yunus added, “Mahmudullah’s name is there. The format in which he is included has been disclosed.”

It has been confirmed that Riyad is in the ODI contract, but he has not been included in the T20i format squad.
