Hindu Mahasabha Threatens Attack on Bangladesh-India Test Match

Najmul Hossain Shanto and his team are scheduled to tour India this month. The Bangladesh team will play two Test matches and two T20I series during the tour.

However, a religious organization in India named Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha has threatened to attack the second Test match between Bangladesh and India in Kanpur.

This information was reported on Friday (August 6) by the Indian media outlet ABP Live.

The report states that the Bangladesh-India series will begin on September 19 with the first Test match in Chennai. The second and final Test match will be played in Kanpur from September 27. After that, the first T20I will take place in Gwalior on October 6, followed by the second and third T20I matches on October 9 and 12.

The report further states that due to allegations of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, the Hindu Mahasabha has threatened to attack the visiting team in Kanpur. The situation is such that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering changing the match venue to Indore.

It also mentioned that sources close to the BCCI told ABP Live that while no official confirmation has been made yet, such a step could be on the cards.

Earlier, the vice president of the Hindu Mahasabha, Xavier Bhardwaj, threatened to vandalize the pitch if the first T20I match in Gwalior was not canceled.

It is worth noting that on August 5, the Awami League government fell amid mass protests by students and the public. On that day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India. Since then, various Indian media outlets and social media platforms have been reporting incidents of attacks on Hindu communities in Bangladesh. However, fact-checks have revealed that most of these reports were rumors and exaggerated.
