The Indian Cricket Board is searching for a new coach. Is it common for India to change coaches after the World Cup? There seems to be a strong possibility this time.
Moreover, Rahul Dravid does not want to continue in the role of coach. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are being considered to take over as the new coach.
According to a report it was learned on Monday that Rahul Dravid is no longer interested in continuing even if the opportunity arises. After the T20 World Cup, he probably doesn’t want to be the coach anymore. The media reports suggest that Dravid is not interested in reapplying. Therefore, a foreign coach might be considered this time.
In November 2021, Rahul Dravid took over as India’s coach. His contract was until the end of the one-day World Cup on home soil last year. The contract was extended after the World Cup. However, Dravid is not interested in extending his contract beyond June next year.
Recently, India’s foreign coach was Duncan Fletcher. After him, Ravi Shastri and then Dravid took charge of the team. Now, after the T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are applying for the position of coach.
It is worth mentioning that recently, Jay Shah, the secretary of the Indian Cricket Board, has stated that the board will start accepting applications for the coach’s position. Dravid can reapply if he wishes. However, he has indicated that he will not reapply. In that case, the Indian cricket team will get a new coach.
Jay Shah further said, “We can also bring in a foreign coach. But I am not saying that the new coach will definitely be Indian or foreign. The advisory council of the board will make that decision.
