Despite retiring from international cricket, former South African captain Faf du Plessis continues to shine in various T20 franchise leagues around the world. Now, he has reached a new milestone, setting the record for the most runs in T20 cricket as a captain.
Currently, Du Plessis is playing for Texas Super Kings in the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States. In a recent match against Seattle Orcas, he played a blistering innings of 91 runs off 52 balls. Thanks to his powerful knock, the team posted a big total of 188 runs and won the match by 51 runs.
With this innings, Du Plessis surpassed Virat Kohli to become the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket as a captain. Kohli previously held the record with 6,564 runs as captain, but Du Plessis has now moved ahead with 6,575 runs.
In the list of T20 captains with the most runs:

- followed by James Vince of England in third (6,358 runs),
- MS Dhoni in fourth (6,283 runs),
- and Rohit Sharma in fifth (6,064 runs).
However, when it comes to overall runs in T20 cricket, Virat Kohli still leads with a total of 13,543 runs, while Du Plessis is in second place with 11,422 runs.
