Virat Kohli did not play the Test series against England that just concluded. He was on leave for the birth of his child. He returned straight from London and joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp. He has made a special request to supporters not to call him ‘King’.
The 17th season of the IPL is starting from March 22. Before that, RCB organized an event at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday. They rebranded themselves for the popular IPL franchise.
Kohli was also present at that event. Danish addressed Virat as ‘King Kohli’. Soon, Kohli intervenes, asking not to be called ‘King’. In Kohli’s words, please stop calling me by that name. Just call me Virat. I had also told Faf du Plessis that whenever I am not called by that name, I feel very embarrassed. So, please address me differently from now on. I feel ashamed.
With the onset of the 17th season of the IPL, Virat Kohli’s team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has changed its name to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). However, there hasn’t been much change in the name of RCB. They have made a small change by adding ‘Bengaluru’ instead of ‘Bangalore’ and ‘RCB’ remains the same.”
