CWC 2023 Semifinal: Venue, Schedule, Rain Rules, and more 

The CWC 2023 Group Stage is over, and the cricket world now awaits the grand showdown between the top four teams. With that in mind, here is everything you need to know about the CWC 2023 Semifinal matches.

Semifinal Match: India Vs New Zealand 

After topping the group stage, India will take on New Zealand on the 15th of November at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The match is set to initiate at 2.00 PM Local time (IST). New Zealand, who finished the group stage in 4th place, also looks sharp for the Semifinal clash against India. According to ICC, India is currently the top ODI team, whereas New Zealand is in 5th place. India looked outstanding from the very beginning and showcased their performance in every possible way. The Kiwis, however,  had a roller coaster ride in the tournament. 

Semifinal Match: South Africa Vs Australia 

Batting juggernaut South Africa will face a talented squad of Australia on the 16th of November at the historic Eden Gardens of Kolkata. Similarly, this match is also scheduled to start at 2.00 PM Local time (IST). South Africa ended their group stage run in 2nd place. In contrast, despite initial struggles, the Aussies secured a third-place finish in the group stage. New Zealand started the tournament with flying colors, however their spot at the Semifinal was challenged by Pakistan & Afghanistan. On the other hand, Australia managed to slowly improve their performance match by match, eventually reaching the Semifinal. 

Rain Rules

In simple terms, the rain rules for the Semifinals are: 

  1. Incomplete matches can be continued on the reserve day allocated for Semifinals and Final. 
  2. Adequate measures will be taken to complete the matches within the scheduled day, even by reducing overs.
  3. If a minimum of 20 overs per side cannot be completed on the scheduled day, the match can be conducted on the allocated reserve day.
  4. If overs have to be reduced during the scheduled day with no possibility of continuation, then the match will resume on the reserve day from the last ball played.
  5. If a 120-minute extension time doesn’t guarantee the scheduled match, the full match will take place on the reserve day.

Upon completing this stage, the final match of CWC 2023 will take place on November 19th at the famous Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
