CWC 2023 Prize Pool: Winner, Runners Up, Semifinalist and more 

The Men’s ODI World Cup of 2023 has ended, with Australia being the champion and India being the runners-up. In a battle between the 10 finest cricket teams, ICC organized 48 matches to filter out the best among them. A massive amount of prize money was distributed among the teams based on their performance and finishing places. Let’s look at the exact volume of the prize money allocated for CWC 2023. 

Prize Money By Placement (USD)

Winner: Australia 

Australia has received a staggering amount of US $4 Million ($4,000,000) after winning the CWC 2023. Furthermore, accruing wins in the group stage have contributed to Australia’s overall prize money, amounting to an impressive US $4.28 million ($4,280,000). In this equation, each match won at the group stage contributed US $40,000. 

Runners-up: India

India has received US $2 Million ($2,000,000) as the runners-up of the event. Additionally, the Indian cricket team acquired a total sum of  US $2.2 Million ($2,280,000) for winning 10 matches in the event.

Semifinalist: New Zealand & South Africa 

New Zealand & South Africa have exited the Semifinal stage and received US $800,000 each. However, South Africa has packed US$1.08 Million ($1,080,000), while New Zealand collected a flat amount of US $1 Million ($1,000,000) for winning 5 matches in total. 

Group Stage Finishers

Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, England & Netherlands will get a prize money of US $100,000 each. However, each team received a slightly different amount for finishing with different placements. 

Pakistan & Afghanistan

Pakistan has finished in the 5th place whereas Afghanistan finished one place below at 6th. Nonetheless, both teams packed US $260,000 respectively for winning four matches in the tournament. 

England 

The former champion has totaled US $220,000 after winning 3 matches and leaving the tournament in a very disappointing fashion. 

Bangladesh, Sri Lanka & Netherlands

All three of these teams have won 2 matches in the group stage and earned US $180,000 before exiting the tournament. Bangladesh concluded their campaign in 8th place, followed by Sri Lanka in 9th, and the Netherlands securing the 10th position.

Even though India dominated the entire tournament, the Aussies played better cricket on the day it was most needed. Consequently, in front of a crowd of 1,25,307 Indian supporters, Australia repeated history after defeating India by six wickets in the final match.
