CWC 2023: New Zealand wins by eight wickets, dismantling Bangladesh in the process.

In the 11th ODI of CWC 2023, New Zealand dismantled Bangladesh and won their third consecutive match. In its usual characteristics, Bangladesh fell apart early in the game and failed to recover anything.

Since the start of the CWC, it became clear that the Bangladeshi top-order batting is ineffective. Presumably, today, the top-order collapsed yet again against New Zealand. Therefore, the pressure fell on the middle-order batters. Under that immense pressure, Mushfiqur Rahim (66/75) and Shakib Al Hasan (40/51) averted a total collapse. Later on, Mahmudullah and Taskin carried Bangladesh to 245 runs.

In response, the Kiwis started off very slow as Mustafiz took out Ravindra on the very first over. Throughout the first 10 overs, Bangladeshi pacers kept the Kiwi top-order in check. However, that didn’t last long, as Kane Williamson (78/107) and Daryl Mitchell (89/67) soon found their rhythm. Their excellent contribution led New Zealand to an 8-wicket victory over the already wounded Bangladeshi bowling lineup.

Player of the Match title went to Lockie Ferguson for his fantastic bowling. Lockie single-handedly took out the entire Tiger top-order and maintained a bowling economy rate of 4.90. The already fragile Bangladeshi top order couldn’t stand firm against Lockie’s agility. Later, Lockie also managed to pick up Shakib’s wicket, stopping the Tiger middle-order from settling in.

So far, CWC 2023 is going great for New Zealand; their next match is against Afghanistan on October 18th.  On the other hand, Bangladesh seems to have no clue on how to fix their top-order batting. With such a wound in the chest, Bangladesh is set to face India on October 19th.
