Glenn Maxwell’s fastest CWC Century

At the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi, Glenn Maxwell’s fiery performance with the bat satisfied thousands of attendees at the venue. Maxwell also clocked the fastest World Cup century ever recorded. Within just 40 balls, the Aussie batter snatched his hundred. In 50 Overs, Australia set a mammoth target of 400 runs for the Dutch to chase. Logan van Beeks took out 4 Aussie batters for a costly amount of 74 runs.

Dutch batters clearly did not have the strength to chase such a target tonight. Consequently, the entire Dutch lineup gave up on the chase even before reaching a team total of 100 runs. Except for Vikramjit Singh’s 25 runs, no other batter seemed present on the field. Fans’ expectations were higher since the same team managed to beat South Africa just a few days ago. However, today, Aussie batters and bowlers dominated the ground above Delhi.

Following this historic victory, Australia has significantly improved its Net Run Rate (NRR) and currently sits in the 4th position on the points table. Strategically, the Aussies have won a strategic victory, effectively widening the gap between them and Pakistan. Australia’s semifinal dream apparently looks more secure after this match.
