Match Summary: Bangladesh Vs. Sri Lanka

Upon winning the toss, Shakib sent Sri Lanka to bat first. Some early wickets taken by Shoriful, Shakib & Tanzim shifted the momentum to Bangladesh’s side. However, Angelo Mathews’ “Timed Out” created history as he is now the only batter to get dismissed in this way in international cricket. Afterward, some exchange of words took place between the players & the umpires, but the decision didn’t change as was it given by the rule book. In 49.3 Overs, Sri Lanka collected 279 runs for 10 wickets. Charith Asalanka’s 108 runs came in handy for Sri Lanka.

Liton Das & Tanzid hit several boundaries to start Bangladesh’s innings. Their opening partnership was outclassed by Shakib & Shanto’s match-winning partnership of 169 runs.  Shakib (82) and Shanto (90) finished more than half of the job for the remaining batters. However, in typical Bangladeshi fashion, the middle-order batters surprisingly threw up and lost a couple of wickets towards the end. A slim chance of winning appeared before Sri Lanka, but Towhid Hridoy & Tanzim Shakib closed that door with multiple boundaries; in 41.1 Overs, Bangladesh surpassed the target to score 282 runs for 7 wickets.

Shakib Al Hasan received the Player of the Match title for his batting (92) and bowling performance (2-52). Besides that, his decision-making skill & knowledge of the rulebook granted Bangladesh the vital wicket of Angelo Mathews.
