At the MCA stadium of Pune, top-order Bangladeshi batters Liton and Shanto cultivated a 76 runs-opening partnership to start their innings. Upon their dismissals, Towhid & Shanto held onto create another decent partnership of 64 runs. Poor running between the wickets considerably slowed down the Tigers, as Shanto & Mahmudullah had to leave the crease sooner than expected. The remaining batters tried to increase the pace but ultimately failed to hit some much-needed boundaries. After 50 Overs, Bangladesh scored 306, much lower than anticipated.
In response, Australia took full advantage of the absence of the veteran Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib. Bangladesh organized a strategy around its spin bowlers to get some early breakthroughs. However, that plan proved fruitless as Aussie batter Mitchell Marsh single-handedly scored 177 runs out of 132 balls. His partners Warner and Smith also defied the spin attacks from Bangladesh to score individual half-centuries. With 8 wickets remaining at hand, Australia scored 307 runs in just 44.4 Overs.

Player of the Match title went to Mitchell Marsh for his huge knock of 177 runs. Bangladeshi bowlers had difficulties facing the Aussie batters. The Spin-centric gameplan didn’t come in handy at all. Meanwhile, Australian bowlers comfortably blocked Bangladesh from scoring anything significant during the Powerplays.
