Australian cricketer Meg Lanning announced her retirement from international cricket at the MCG. The 31-year-old Aussie cricketer is one of the most decorated players in Women’s Cricketing history.

Born in Singapore, Meg Lanning found her passion for cricket from an early age. Meg started her cricketing career for the Australian national team in 2010 against New Zealand. Meg began her ODI & Test career against England in 2011 & 2013. In 2014, she was announced as the Australian women’s cricket team captain.
Meg the “Serious Sally”
As captain, Meg Lanning steered Australia to win five World Cup titles, four in T20s and one in ODI. Besides that, she played for the 2013 ODI and 2012 T20 World Champion squad as a regular player. Her illustrious career is filled with records & unforgettable moments. Hence, the origin of the nickname “Serious Sally” was cemented with her name.

With the bat, Meg Lanning has collected 4602 runs in 103 ODIs, 3405 runs in 132 T20s & 345 runs in 6 Test Matches. She also has the highest amount of centuries (17) in Women’s International Cricket. Among her centuries, fifteen are from ODIs and two from T20s. Occasionally, Meg also supported the team with her bowling skills in ODI & T20 matches. She has won three Women’s Ashes in 2015, 2019 and 2022.
