New Zealand cricket has already announced the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Colin Munro has not been included in that squad of 15. With a hint of disappointment, this Kiwi opener has announced his retirement from international cricket.
Munro said, “Playing for the Black Caps has always been the biggest achievement of my career. I haven’t felt prouder of anything else than wearing that jersey. It’s true that I have done it 123 times in all formats. I will always be incredibly proud of that.”
“Although quite a bit of time has passed since my last match, I never lost hope. I think I can come back nationally in franchise T20 form. The announcement of the Black Caps squad for the T20 World Cup is the perfect time to officially close that door,” he added.
Munro has played a total of 123 matches across three formats for New Zealand. While he has been a regular member in the team for a long time in white-ball cricket, this opener has now bid farewell to the international scene.
