Sunny Dhillon, a coach in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, has been banned for six years due to allegations of match-fixing.
On Monday, December 9, the International Cricket Council (ICC) found him guilty during a meeting and imposed the ban.
Previously, allegations of match-fixing surfaced against Sunny Dhillon during his tenure as an assistant coach for the Pune Devils in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Not just Sunny, a total of eight individuals faced match-fixing accusations at the time.
The ICC’s disciplinary committee suspended these eight individuals from the competition but did not impose further penalties. Sunny was temporarily suspended on September 13, 2023, and has now been banned permanently.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, December 10, the ICC announced that the USA cricket board would no longer be allowed to host T20 or T10 leagues. According to ICC regulations, any country’s cricket league must have at least seven players from that country in the playing XI.
However, the USA cricket league violated this rule along with several other approval-related regulations. As a result, their league has been canceled, and the ICC has formally notified the USA cricket board of this decision.
