Uncertainty still surrounds the Champions Trophy. Will the tournament be held in Pakistan? Or will it be moved to another country following India’s objections? According to current reports, the tournament is set to be held in Pakistan.
The International Cricket Council (ICC), cricket’s highest governing body, is expected to announce the schedule for the Champions Trophy on November 11. However, it is not yet known if India will participate.
An ICC delegation is scheduled to visit Lahore, Pakistan, from November 10 to 12. The Champions Trophy is set to take place in February-March next year. The delegation will assess Pakistan’s readiness for the tournament during this visit.
The announcement of the tournament schedule is expected during this time. It is reported that a draft schedule has already been sent to all cricket boards, but the formal announcement is still pending.
It is known that Group A includes India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Group B consists of England, Australia, South Africa, and Pakistan. India, however, is reluctant to play in Pakistan. The decision has been left to the Indian government. If the tournament is not moved from Pakistan and India decides not to play in the country, the question arises whether the tournament will proceed without India.
The Champions Trophy is scheduled to start on February 19, with the first match set to take place in Karachi. The semi-finals are planned for March 5 and 6 in Karachi and Rawalpindi, respectively. The final is expected to be held in Lahore on March 9, with March 10 as a reserve day.
A total of 15 matches will be played in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. The much-anticipated India-Pakistan match is scheduled for March 1 in Lahore. It remains to be seen whether the schedule will be officially announced on November 11.
