Chad Bowes set a new world record for the fastest double century

Chad Bowes set a new world record for the fastest double century in List A cricket while playing for Canterbury in New Zealand’s Ford Trophy. Facing Otago in Christchurch, the Kiwi batter reached 200 runs in just 103 balls and ended his innings with 205 runs off 110 balls, hitting 27 fours and 7 sixes. This beat the previous record of 114 balls held jointly by Travis Head of Australia and Narayan Jagadeesan of India.

Reflecting on his record-breaking innings, Bowes expressed that it would take a couple of days for the achievement to fully sink in but described it as a special day at Hagley Oval.

The 32-year-old, originally from South Africa, noted he’s possibly eyeing a place in the New Zealand national team with this performance. He has previously played 6 ODIs and 11 T20s for New Zealand, with his last international appearance being against Bangladesh in Mirpur in September.
